Yacht Rental in Abu Dhabi for Weddings: Private Boat Hire Explained

Renting a yacht for a wedding in Abu Dhabi means you hire the entire boat, with its captain and crew, for a fixed number of hours, and nobody else shares it. The charter is priced by the hour with a two-hour minimum, the wedding package adds the decoration and the cake on top of that hourly rate, and the boat page shows the live figure for the hours and date you choose. This article explains the mechanics of private boat hire in plain terms: what you are actually renting, what the captain controls, how the rate is built, how booking works, and which boats suit a first-time charterer.
What private hire actually means
There are two ways to be on a boat in Abu Dhabi: a shared cruise, where you buy tickets and sit with strangers on a fixed route, and a private charter, where the whole vessel is yours. Every wedding booking with us is the second kind. In practice that gives you four things a shared cruise cannot:
- Exclusive use of every deck. Your guests, your decoration, your music, nobody else.
- Your own route and timing. You choose the backdrop and the moment; the captain builds the cruise around it.
- Your own boarding time. Morning, afternoon, sunset or after dark, within the hours the marina and the captain allow.
- A crew working for one party. Service, seating, safety and the run sheet are all for you.
Who is in charge on the water
Private hire is not self-drive. Every charter sails with a licensed captain and crew, and the captain has final authority over the boat: where it goes, how fast, when it stops, whether conditions are safe to sail, how loud the music can be and until when. This is not a limitation on your day; it is what makes the day possible. You decide the wedding; the captain decides the boat. If the two ever conflict, for example a route you want that the wind makes uncomfortable, the captain proposes the nearest alternative and the team confirms it with you on WhatsApp.
How the charter is timed
The clock starts at the departure time you booked, not when the last guest arrives, so boarding happens before the charter begins. We give you a boarding time thirty minutes ahead of departure for that reason. The minimum is two hours on every boat except Miss Kim House Boat, which starts at three. You can book any whole number of hours above the minimum. Extending on the day is often possible if the boat is free afterwards; ask in advance and we will keep the following hour open where we can.
How the rate is built
We never quote figures in articles because the owner updates rates and the boat pages calculate them live, but the structure is simple and worth understanding before you compare boats:
- An hourly rate for the boat, which includes the captain, crew and fuel for the agreed route.
- The number of hours you choose, from the minimum upward.
- The wedding package supplement, a one-off amount added to the hourly total that covers the wedding decoration and the wedding cake.
That is the whole calculation. Choose the boat, set the hours, and the page shows today's package price. What is not in it are the personal services you bring: catering, photographer, videographer, DJ or musician, and an officiant. Read the decoration page and the custom cake page to see what the supplement covers.
How booking works, step by step
- Message us on WhatsApp with your date, guest count and the kind of boat you prefer, or the name of one you have seen on the fleet page.
- We confirm availability and suggest one or two alternatives that genuinely fit the guest count.
- You pick the boat and the hours. The boat page gives you the figure for that combination.
- You pay the deposit. That locks the date and the boat; nothing is held without it.
- We build the day together: decoration colours, cake design, route, run sheet and the details of any vendors you are bringing.
- The day before, we confirm boarding time and the weather picture on WhatsApp.
Yacht or house boat for a first charter
If you have never chartered before, the difference is easier to feel than to read. A yacht has a hull that cuts the water, a flybridge above the saloon, and several distinct spaces: bow, aft deck, saloon, flybridge. A house boat is a wide, flat platform with a large open upper deck and an enclosed saloon below, and it sits very steady. For a ceremony with an aisle and an arch, the house boat's single deck is easier. For a smaller wedding that wants the classic look and a bit of motion, the yacht wins. Both are private, both have a captain and crew, and both come with the same package inclusions.
Three boats that suit a first-time charterer
- 62 Ft Tecno Yacht, 18 guests. A flybridge yacht with a sheltered saloon and an upper deck for portraits. The easiest yacht in the fleet to plan a wedding on, and a natural fit for 15 to 18 guests.
- 68 Ft Super Yacht, 16 guests. The most refined yacht in the fleet, with a bow sunpad and a teak aft deck. Choose it when the look of the boat in photographs matters.
- Princess Yacht, 25 guests. A classic motor yacht with a shaded flybridge and enough seating for a mid-sized wedding without moving to a house boat.
What the hire does and does not allow
- Allowed: your decoration through our team, your caterer, your photographer, your music within the hours the captain sets, your route within the waters the captain considers safe that day.
- Decided by the captain on the day: sailing in marginal weather, music volume and hours, any swim stop, and any change of route.
- Not part of a wedding charter: self-drive, overnight stays, and any structural change to the boat. Loose decoration that cannot be secured stays on the pontoon.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need any licence or paperwork to rent the boat?
No. You are hiring a crewed vessel. The captain holds the licences; you need only confirm the booking and the deposit.
Is the price per person or per boat?
Per boat, per hour, plus the one-off wedding package supplement. Guest count matters only for choosing a boat with enough capacity; it does not change the hourly rate.
Can we rent for one hour?
No. Two hours is the minimum on every boat, three on Miss Kim House Boat. A shorter charter cannot fit boarding, a cruise, a ceremony and a return.
What if we have to cancel or the weather stops the sailing?
If the captain calls off a sailing for safety, the team offers a new time or date on WhatsApp. For a cancellation on your side, the terms are confirmed at booking; ask before you pay the deposit so there are no surprises.
