Henna Night and Bridal Shower on a Yacht in Abu Dhabi

A henna night or bridal shower on a yacht in Abu Dhabi gives the bride and her closest women a private boat for the evening, a crew that stays discreetly in its working areas, a deck dressed in the colours she chose, and a cake to cut at the end. The whole boat is hers; no other group shares it. This guide covers the practical side that makes the evening work: privacy, where the henna artist sits, how to time the drying, the running order, and which boats fit a group of 15 to 25.
Privacy on a ladies-only evening
Every charter is private, so the question is not whether strangers will be on board (they will not) but how the crew fits into a women-only celebration. A captain and crew sail on every trip, for safety and service. Tell us when you book that it is a ladies-only night and we plan the service around that: the crew keeps to the bridge and the working deck, drinks and food are set up before the celebration starts, and a crew member comes to the party deck only when called or at the agreed cue for the cake. If you want the deck fully out of view from the marina while guests settle, the boat can leave the berth first and guests can relax once it is under way.
Where the henna artist works
Henna on a boat needs three things: a stable seat, good light and no wind on the drying hands. Here is how we set it up:
- Seat: a fixed bench or sofa in the saloon or the sheltered part of the aft deck, never a loose chair on an open deck.
- Light: daytime charters use natural light in the saloon; evening charters need a lamp beside the seat. Tell us and we place one.
- Wind: the artist works while the boat is slow or stopped, so the bride's henna dries indoors or in the lee of the cabin. The captain times the slow sections of the route to the henna slot.
- Order: the bride first, while the boat is stopped at the backdrop, then guests who want a small design while the boat cruises gently.
Book the artist yourself or ask us to recommend one who has worked on the boats. Either way, send us her arrival time and we add her to the boarding list.
A running order for a three-hour henna night
- Boarding (first fifteen minutes): ladies board, the crew shows the seating, welcome drinks are already on the table.
- Cruise out (thirty minutes): music at cruising volume, photographs on the flybridge or upper deck in the last daylight.
- The bride's henna (forty-five minutes): boat slowed or stopped at Lulu Island or off the Corniche, artist works, guests gather round, the sound is softer.
- Food and games (forty-five minutes): buffet or platters served while the henna sets; games, songs, gifts.
- Cake and dancing (thirty minutes): the cake is brought out, cut and served; music up to the level the captain allows that evening.
- Return (fifteen minutes): a slow run back along the lit skyline; the crew helps everyone off at the pontoon.
Two hours is the minimum charter and works for a bridal shower with a small group and no henna. For a henna night with a proper meal, three hours is the honest number.
Decoration and cake in the package
The package price on each boat includes the decoration and the cake. For a henna night that usually means warm tones, lanterns, floor cushions or low seating in the saloon, a seat of honour for the bride, and a cake in the same palette. For a bridal shower it can be lighter: pastels, florals and a small dessert table alongside the cake. Choose the look on the yacht decoration page; the cake design is on the custom cake page. Neither is an extra.
Boats that suit 15 to 25 ladies
- 62 Ft Tecno Yacht, 18 guests. A flybridge yacht with a sheltered saloon for the henna seat and an upper deck for photographs and dancing. The best choice for a group that wants a yacht rather than a house boat.
- Haya House Boat, 20 guests. A flat, steady deck under string lights, ideal for floor seating, games and a long meal.
- Princess Yacht, 25 guests. A classic motor yacht with a shaded flybridge and enough seating for a larger circle of friends and cousins.
All of these depart from Yas Marina or Al Bateen Marina. For 30 or more guests, ask about the house boats; the whole fleet with capacities is on the fleet page.
What to tell your guests
- Flat shoes or block heels; teak decks and stilettos do not mix.
- A wrap for after dark between November and March; the water is cooler than the city.
- Arrive at the meeting point thirty minutes before the boarding time we give you.
- Small bags only; deck space is for people.
- If a guest is bringing the bride's gift, tell the crew and they will store it safely until the moment.
Music, sound and the hour
You are welcome to bring a playlist or a musician. The captain decides on the day how loud the music can be and until what hour, depending on where the boat is and what else is on the water, and the team confirms the plan on WhatsApp before the night. Traditional henna songs and drums work beautifully on the water because the sound carries over a flat surface; if you are bringing a drummer, tell us so we can place her where the deck is most stable.
Frequently asked questions
Can the henna night and the wedding be on the same boat?
Yes, and many families do exactly that. Booking both with us lets the decoration team keep a consistent colour story and lets the crew learn the family before the bigger night. Ask about combined dates on WhatsApp.
Is there a place for the bride to change on board?
The yachts have cabins below and the house boats have an enclosed saloon, so the bride can change or touch up out of sight. Tell us if she plans an outfit change so we can keep one space clear for it.
Does the crew include women?
Crew assignments depend on the boat and the day. Tell us it is a ladies-only night when you book and we will tell you honestly what is possible, and in every case the crew stays in its working areas unless called.
What about the summer heat?
From June to September, choose an evening departure after sunset and a boat with an air-conditioned saloon, such as the Tecno or the house boats. The henna seat goes indoors and the dancing moves outside once the air cools.
Book the bride's night
Tell us the date, the number of ladies and whether there is a henna artist, and we will suggest the boat and the running order. See the henna and party charters page, read how the wedding yacht service works for the big night, or message us on WhatsApp at +971 50 503 7702.
