Anniversary Cruise on a Private Yacht in Abu Dhabi

An anniversary cruise on a private yacht in Abu Dhabi is, at its simplest, a two-hour charter for two people at sunset: the boat leaves Yas Marina or Al Bateen Marina in the late afternoon, anchors off the Corniche as the light goes gold, dinner is served on deck, and you return under the city lights. The same charter scales to a milestone anniversary with children, grandchildren and close friends, up to 15 guests on the intimate boats. This guide covers both versions, what the crew take care of, and how to make the evening feel like the anniversary rather than a generic cruise.
Two kinds of anniversary cruise
The private cruise for two
The minimum charter is two hours and the whole boat is yours, crew included. For a couple alone, two hours at sunset is exactly right: long enough for the cruise, a meal and the return, short enough that it never drags. You have a captain, a crew member serving, and nobody else on board. The boats that suit this best are the smallest in the fleet, because a 15-guest boat with two people on it feels generous rather than empty.
The milestone anniversary with family
For a tenth, twenty-fifth or fiftieth anniversary the cruise becomes a family dinner on the water: the couple, their children and grandchildren, perhaps the friends who were at the wedding. Fifteen guests fit on Maya Luxury Boat, Al Maharia S or Marina Villa; up to 20 on Haya House Boat if the family is larger. The shape of the evening is the same, with a toast from the eldest child and a cake in place of a wedding cake, and the couple's original wedding photograph on the table.
The evening, hour by hour
- Thirty minutes before departure: board at the marina. The crew have set the table on deck, the flowers are in place and the sound system has your playlist.
- First forty minutes: cruise along the Corniche toward Emirates Palace and Etihad Towers, or out toward Lulu Island for the view of the city across the water. Drinks on the open deck.
- Sunset: the captain anchors in calm water with the sun going down behind the skyline. This is the moment for the photograph, the toast and, if there is one, the surprise.
- Dinner: served at the deck table or in the saloon, from food prepared by your caterer or a restaurant and plated by the crew.
- Cake and coffee: the anniversary cake is cut about thirty minutes before the return; Arabic coffee and tea follow.
- Return: a slow cruise back under the lit skyline, the quietest and often the favourite part.
Boats for an anniversary of two to fifteen
- Maya Luxury Boat, 15 guests. A modern boat with a bright saloon of curved cream sofas, a round wooden table and glass doors onto a cushioned aft deck: dinner inside with the doors open, dessert outside under the sky.
- Al Maharia S, 15 guests. A two-deck boat with string lights over its upper deck; the boat to choose for a family anniversary dinner on top with the skyline all around.
- Marina Villa, 15 guests. A timber-clad house boat with a lounge, a shaded rooftop deck and a steady, flat floor; ideal for grandparents.
Each boat page shows the package price for the hours and date you choose. The fleet page lists all thirteen boats.
Making it an anniversary, not just a cruise
A cruise becomes an anniversary through a few deliberate details, and most of them cost nothing beyond a little planning:
- The playlist. The song from your wedding, played at the anchorage. Hand the crew a short list and tell them when.
- The photograph. Bring a print of your wedding photograph for the table. It becomes the picture of the evening when the crew photograph you holding it against the skyline.
- The cake. A small cake in the style of your original wedding cake, or with the year on it; designed with our team on the custom cake page.
- The table. Flowers in the colours of your wedding, candles in glass, a single card. Our decoration team keeps it low so the view is not blocked.
- The vows. Some couples read their original vows at sunset, or write two new lines each. It takes a minute and it is the part they remember.
Food for an anniversary on a boat
The galley on these boats is for plating and keeping food cold, not for cooking, so dinner arrives prepared. For two people, a restaurant takeaway plated by the crew on proper china is the simplest and often the best. For a family of fifteen, platters and a buffet on the saloon table work better than a served meal, because guests want to move between the deck and the table as the light changes. Tell the crew any allergies when you book and they will keep the dishes separate.
The surprise anniversary
Many anniversary cruises are planned by one partner as a surprise. What works: book the boat and tell your partner only that dinner is somewhere on the Corniche; have the decoration set before boarding; give the crew the playlist and the moment for the cake; and ask a family member to send a short video message that the crew can play on a phone at the anchorage. What does not work is a surprise on a day with a bad weather forecast, because the captain decides whether to sail and you cannot explain a cancelled surprise. Book a date with a calm forecast and keep a second date in mind.
Frequently asked questions
Is two hours enough for an anniversary dinner?
For two people, yes. Boarding, the cruise out, sunset, dinner, cake and the return fit comfortably. For a family of fifteen with a proper meal, three hours is more relaxed.
Can we cruise in the morning instead?
Yes. A late-morning charter with brunch on deck is calmer, cooler in winter and better for older guests who prefer daylight. The sunset version is the more popular one for couples alone.
Can we bring our own dinner and cake?
Yes. The crew store, plate and serve whatever you bring. Most couples have the cake made with our team so it matches the table and arrives with the decoration.
What if the weather turns?
The captain makes the call on the day, and the team confirms with you on WhatsApp the morning of the cruise. If the sea is not right, the charter moves to another date.
